Who Is a Good Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

December 20, 2022 by wpengine

Whether it’s swimsuit season or you want to embrace fashion trends such as tight-fitting jeans, the appearance of your buttocks may be important to you. However, not everyone is blessed with a full or round behind, which is why surgical techniques such as a Brazilian butt lift are such a good option for so many people. Learn more about who is considered a candidate before you reach out to Nuance Cosmetic Surgery in Folsom, CA.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

In general, both men and women can use this procedure to augment the shape, size, and lift of the buttocks. This plastic surgery procedure can be used by people of all ages. As long as you are not pregnant and you do not have some other medical restriction that will prevent you from undergoing surgery, you should be able to use this procedure to improve your body shape.

If you want to feel curvier, sexier, or simply more confident about the appearance of your buttocks, then a BBL is a good surgical option for you. Other signs you may be a candidate for this procedure include:

You Are In Good Health

In general, you must be in good health to qualify for this surgery. This procedure will use general anesthesia to perform the liposuction and fat injection, which means that your body must be strong enough to tolerate the effects of general anesthesia. A physical examination and the completion of certain lab tests will determine your eligibility.

In addition to being healthy enough to withstand general anesthesia, you will also need to discuss the medications and supplements you are currently taking with your plastic surgeon. Some medications and supplements may need to be temporarily discontinued so you can have your procedure. Usually, you will stop taking these medications a few days before your procedure, and you will restart these medications a few days after your procedure.

You Can Manage Your Weight

It’s important that you can manage your body weight in the future, particularly if you want to enjoy long-lasting results. This procedure works by repurposing the fat in your body to contour your buttocks, which means that significant weight loss or excessive weight gain will hinder the longevity of your results. It’s best if you can commit to healthy lifestyle practices that will prevent you from gaining or losing more than ten pounds.

There are many things that can factor into gaining or losing weight, including hormones, medication such as birth control, stress, and eating habits. Sometimes, your genetics may also influence how easily you can manage your body weight. If you aren’t sure about how to manage your body weight, you can always discuss your concerns with a nutritionist, dietitian, or your primary care physician.

You Have Enough Fat for Fat Grafting

It’s essential to have enough fat in the body to perform a BBL procedure. The core of this procedure is a fat graft that harvests unwanted fat from the thighs, hips, or abdomen, which will then be placed in key areas of the buttocks to augment your body shape. Without enough fat to harvest from other areas, you will need to explore other contouring procedures.

Furthermore, having enough fat for a fat transfer can benefit other aesthetic goals you may have. Because a fat transfer will use liposuction to remove a moderate amount of fat from other areas of the body, you can slim down areas you feel self-conscious about. You may also be able to speak with your plastic surgeon about removing more fat with liposuction than is strictly required for your BBL fat transfer to achieve your ideal body shape.

You Will Not Require Implants

It’s also important that you will not require implants to achieve your ideal aesthetic. Implants are generally only necessary if you are too thin and you do not have enough fat that can be harvested from other areas of your body. If you need implants to contour your buttocks, you will need to speak with your surgeon about all of your body contouring options to find an alternative treatment.

Who Are Not Good Candidates?

Usually, as long as you want to enhance the shape or size of your buttocks, you are a good candidate for this procedure. However, if you have excessive sagging or loose skin on the buttocks, then a procedure such as a butt lift surgery may be a better option for you. If you are struggling with the appearance of cellulite, there may be cellulite-reduction treatments for you to explore as well.

What Are the Benefits of a BBL?

A Brazilian butt lift can be incredibly beneficial for your general self-confidence, especially if you want to look your best when you’re wearing certain clothing items. In fact, one of the biggest benefits of a BBL procedure is the ability to fit better into clothing. For example, if you struggle to find pants or skirts that fit correctly because of your body shape, a BBL can make it much easier to find clothes off the rack.

Another benefit of a Brazilian butt lift is the ability to reduce unwanted pockets of fat in other areas of your body. For example, if you’ve been struggling to reduce fat in the abdomen or thighs through diet and exercise, this procedure can help you achieve other body goals while also enhancing the proportions of your body.

What Is Your Recovery Time Like?

Usually, the total recovery time after this procedure is about six weeks. During the first two to three weeks, you will have the most restrictions on your activities, including the best ways to sit down or lie down. For example, you will need to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for long periods of time, which means you need to keep bathroom visits short, avoid hard chairs, and do your best to lie down on your side. It’s also a good idea to use a donut pillow.

After your procedure, you need to follow directions on how to address any injection or incision sites, including areas of your body that have liposuction. Oftentimes, you need to wear compression garments to ensure your body heals in an ideal shape. You may also be required to take certain prescription medications, such as antibiotics or over-the-counter pain medication, for several days after your surgery.

Recovery Tips

In addition to using a donut pillow or seat cushion, there are other things you can do to make your recovery time after your BBL procedure easier. For example, if your job requires that you sit in one place for several hours at a time, it’s usually a good idea to take extra time off work so that you don’t compromise the development of your surgical results. If you have to go back to work, you may want to invest in a standing desk.

It’s also a good idea to eat a healthy diet during your recovery time. Specifically, it’s best to reduce sugar, carbohydrate, and sodium intake so that you don’t retain too much water. Finally, drinking enough pure water will also help speed up your recovery time.

When Will You See the Final Results?

Usually, you will see the final results of this procedure about six months after your surgical procedure, which is when fat cells will have settled permanently in your buttocks. Final results will develop more easily if you can follow all of your recovery tips for at least six to eight weeks and if you attend all of your follow-up appointments.

How Long Will Your Results Last?

The results of a Brazilian butt lift are intended to be permanent, or at least last for five or more years. This is because the fat cells that are injected into the buttocks will survive for as long as you can maintain a healthy body weight. You can help your results look better and last longer by using exercises that keep the buttocks toned and firm, such as squats.

Feel More Confident About Your Body Shape

If you’re in the Sacramento, CA area and you want to improve the appearance of your buttocks, a Brazilian butt lift may be the ideal treatment for you. Good candidates include those who are in good health and who have enough natural fat to not require implants. Contact Nuance Cosmetic Surgery in Folsom, CA to schedule a consultation today.
