What is Dysport®?

Over time, repeated tightening and contracting of the eyebrow muscles can cause wrinkles and lines. Derived from the botulinum toxin, Dysport® is an FDA-approved neurotoxin injectable used to improve the appearance of crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles and moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows.

Dysport® is administered with five separate injections into each of the crucial points above and between the eyebrows. Once injected, the neurotoxin blocks nerve signals from reaching the facial muscles, temporarily relaxing them.

What are the Benefits of Dysport®?

In addition to smoothing skin and reducing visible eyebrow wrinkles, Dysport® has several benefits, such as:

Am I a Good Candidate for Dysport®?

Dysport® is a safe, effective treatment for treating frown lines in individuals less than 65 years of age, but it is not for everyone. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not receive this treatment, and individuals with medical conditions that affect the muscles or nerves may be advised to seek alternative forms of treatment.

Additionally, individuals with allergies to cow’s milk protein or any of the ingredients in Dysport® as well as those with surgical changes to the face or weak muscles in treated areas should not undergo treatment.

During your consultation, Dr. Sumida will assess your health, medical history, and cosmetic goals and help you determine whether Dysport® is right for you.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Temporary bruising, swelling, and pain at the injection sites is common and should subside shortly after treatment. Patients are advised to avoid massaging or rubbing treated areas, as the botulinum toxin can move to other areas and cause weakness or drooping.
