What is a Brow Lift?
Also known as a forehead lift, a brow lift is done as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia and can be used to alleviate many cosmetic facial concerns:
- Vertical creases that can develop between the eyebrows

- Eyebrows that no longer appear alert or youthful
- Wrinkle lines that develop across the forehead, nose and eyes

These skin issues can be caused by several factors, including aging, stress, or muscle overactivity. A series of small incisions will be made along the hairline and/or ear areas in order to minimize visible scarring after healing is complete. From these areas, Dr. Sumida will reposition muscle and tissue, then close the areas with sutures to create smoother, rejuvenated skin.
What is the Recovery Like?
After 10 days, the sutures will be removed, and you may return to full daily activities after this time. Any residual bruising or swelling that occurs after the surgery should have cleared up by then. Dr. Sumida will provide you instructions on how to properly care for your incision sites in order to reduce the risk of infection and complications, as well as what medications would be best to curb any discomfort or pain.
Although camouflage makeup may be applied after a few days to cover up bruising, the entire healing process may take several weeks as bruising dissipates and incision lines continue to fade. During this time it is important to not subject your incision areas to excessive force or motion and to avoid clothing that goes over your head as much as possible. It is also typically advised to keep your head elevated and to not apply ice or heat to treated areas after surgery.
